I think people are already bring their portable BBQ to the park. I see them all the time. I'm not sure if that's conforming to the law or not.
If I'm not mistaken, there's also a small covered area near the Iron Horse trail that the city rent out for events (company BBQ, etc.).
There are (or at least used to be) permanent charcoal barbecues that people could use, they are at the back end of the park past the playground and near the aforementioned picnic shelter.
That's right. They were in the old trailer park area. I don't think there is any problem with firing up the bbq in that part of the park.

Mayor Zehr has agreed to be in the first canoe launched onto Victoria Park Lake, after a recent council decision allowing boat rentals to return to the lake after nearly 20 years. Councillor Frank Etherington, Ward 9, will join the mayor on the canoe ride.
Canoe rentals will open in Victoria Park starting Friday at 11 a.m. The grand opening and launch will take place Friday, May 17 at noon near The Boathouse.
Paddle In The Park boat rentals is operated by Canoeing the Grand in a 45-day trial period until June 30. The temporary period was requested by Canoeing the Grand, in order to determine if the rentals are viable from a business perspective.

It's $5 per person and i believe kids are free and you get 30mins.
Nice deal, the kids for free! Hope this works out and can become permanent.
Can't wait for a chance to take a ride in a canoe in Victoria Park... I hope that this will viable in the long term!
By the way, the Victoria Park Slash Pad is turned off today... downright criminal on a humid 27 degree day.
Tried out the Paddle in the Park today, great fun. The entire park was bustling with people, it was great to see so many people out enjoying the beautiful weather.
When are the food trucks and other vendors supposed to start operating Downtown?
That's it!? I thought that they were meant to be in place daily in various locations, along with a handicrafts vendor and a flower vendor. I must have misunderstood.
I recommend not going to the park this weekend due to the fact there may be a person that has drowned in the lake. Friend lives in the area and said cops are still looking.
The Multicultural Festival is on at Victoria Park this weekend (although the rain can't be helping!). I don't understand why you would recommend that people not go, just because the police are working - it's a big park!
http://www.therecord.com/news-story/...ria-park-lake/]. It would appear it was someone who used a wheelchair who may have slipped while they were climbing on the rocks.
Just because police are doing their jobs is no reason not to go check out the festival. It's usually one of the best.
