Amateur photographers are invited to submit their best photos in keeping with the categories of the contest.
Photos will be judged by a panel of professional photographers from the Waterloo Region Record and acclaimed photography manipulation artist, Lori Crewe, with three placements being awarded in each category as well as one grand prize for each age division.
Grand Prizes in both age divisions:
$150 gift certificates to Frames Plus.
Winners will be notified in March and winning photos will be framed by Frames Plus and showcased in KPL’s Concourse Gallery throughout the month of April.
Winning photographs will also appear in an edition of the Waterloo Region Record.
Up to three entries per person will be accepted between Dec.1, 2009 and Jan. 31, 2010.
Please be sure to include a contest entry form with each of your submissions.
Age divisions:
- Youth (18 and under)
- Adult (19+)

Prints, no larger than 5 x7, can be dropped off at any Kitchener Public Library location, or mailed to:

Please download a copy of copy of your selected entry form (PDF), fill it out, and return to any Kitchener Public Library location along with your photo reprint. A seperate entry form is required for each submitted photo. There is a maximum of three submissions per person.
The KPL Photo Contest submission deadline has been extended until February 13.
So far we're doing pathetic in this contest, with the highest placed photo receiving 8 votes. I've just submitted a few photos (and will continue to add more), so please vote to boost our local results!

I didn't win, but my photo of Downtown Kitchener did make Page 10 of the 2009 Report. Hopefully I can make one of the Top 3 spots this year.

The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation and The Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Foundation in partnership with The Waterloo Region Record are seeking images that portray quality of life in Waterloo Region. The selected images will be featured in the 2010 edition of Waterloo Regions Vital SignsŪ, an innovative, annual report on quality of life in the Region.
The release of Waterloo Region’s Vital Signs receives wide media and public attention, and is distributed to thousands of local philanthropists, private sector decision-makers and public policy makers. This project provides Waterloo Region’s talented photographers with an opportunity to gain more exposure for their work.
Submissions will be reviewed by a jury of leaders in the field of photography. Photographers whose images are chosen will receive full accreditation in the publication.
There is also a chance to win one of three prizes!
First Prize: “Two’s Company” – A limo ride for two with Brentwood Livery, dinner for two at Rushes Restaurant, and two tickets to the Centre in the Square (this prize is good for any night other than Saturday)
Second Prize: $200 gift certificate for Henry’s – Photo, Video, Digital Store
Third Prize: Waterloo Region Record prize pack full of fun Record swag!
Deadline: Monday, July 5th, 2010, 4 p.m.
