With only 220 hours left to file nomination papers we're still looking at potential acclamations in: the four Waterloo Region District School Board seats, the four Waterloo Catholic District School Board seats & the Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique Centre-Sud position.

    Mark Morton: Campaign Platform

Hi, Everyone -- I'm running for the position of Trustee on the WRDSB (Kitchener), and would be pleased if you would take a few moments to consider my platform, available at my campaign website: http://www.markmorton.ca

I'm a lifelong educator (at both the high school and university level), and am currently Senior Instructional Developer at the University of Waterloo's Centre for Teaching Excellence. I'm also an award-winning author (of four non-fiction books), and CBC broadcaster (both nationally and regionally). My wife and I are parents of two fabulous children (ages 12 and 14) whom we adopted about four years ago, one of whom has special needs that prompted me to become engaged with the public school system, with a view to enhancing educational opportunities for all students. I've served as president of a 500-member organization, and co-founded the Winnipeg International Writers' Festival, now in its thirteenth year.

Again, my platform and qualifications are available for your consideration at http://www.markmorton.ca
    Thank you, Mark

Thank you Wonderful Waterloo for setting up this election education site.

My name is Margaret Johnston and I'm running for Public School Board Trustee in Kitchener. Please visit my campaign website at www.margaretjohnston.ca

I'm very excited about the opportunity to serve Kitchener on School Board. I am a parent, education and community volunteer. I've been active on education boards and councils since 1996 where I've always played a progressive and enthusiastic role. Currently I'm the Chair of Kitchener Collegiate Institute Parent Council.

I've had a wonderful career in government, high tech and education. I worked at Queen's Park in liaison between constituency offices and the government. I've worked in account management with companies across North America where I honed my negotiation skills. Currently I'm employed with the University of Waterloo in the Office of Engineering Research and External Partnerships where I help build relationships between industry and researchers.

I have two children. My eldest started at Waterloo this year in Applied Health Sciences and my youngest is in Grade 11 at KCI. I regularly attend WRDSB Board meetings. I believe it's important to have a background with the Board and its operations before taking on the role of Trustee. To that end, I applied for the position of Community Representative on the WRDSB Good Schools Standing Committee and have held that position for the past year.

I am dedicated to a strong public education system and am an enthusiastic advocate for students, parents and teachers. I need your vote to take that passion and commitment to the role of Trustee.

Please check out my website for further information at http://www.margaretjohnston.ca, my Facebook page at http://http://s.coop/2na or call me at 519-579-7717.

Thanks so much for the opportunity to share this information with you.

    Marg
