Thanks for the photo updates. Still too early to tell what I think of this development though - hope I'm pleasantly surprised upon completion.
Interesting, looking at the design of that first floor, it seems better designed for eventual conversion to retail/service than the buildings to the north.

Notice is hereby given that an application is being made to the Director of By-law Enforcement for the City of Waterloo for an exemption to the City of Waterloo Noise By-law #2010-073 which prohibits amplified sound between the hours of 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. The applicant, Melloul-Blamey Construction, is requesting an exemption as follows:
To permit construction from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Thursday July 12, 2012 (rain dates July 11 or July 13) for operating equipment for the dismantling of a tower crane to take place at 315 King Street North.
Anyone wishing to comment on this matter should contact the By-law Enforcement Department in writing at 100 Regina Street South, Waterloo, Ontario N2J 4A8 no later than 4:30 p.m., Tuesday July 3, 2012 or via email at bylaw@waterloo.ca. Would this back onto the second phase of Sage condos?
Drove past here this morning and the sidewalk in front of the building has been pushed back from the road, closer to the building and widened. A good thing to my mind.
Too bad this is the only project on this block to do so, therefore creating a zig-zag walking patter no person is likely to follow. That and the windows you are now closer to have nothing behind them that is worth looking at.

Re: the sidewalks. Walked along the newer development at King and Ezra. The new sidewalk they installed on Ezra due to the development is extra wide as well. Hope the City implements this new size everywhere around the universities. On a busy day there is not enough sidewalk, most notably along University Avenue near the various bus stops.
