Why do unlicensed restaurants and coffee shops need separate "patios". Wouldn't tables set along the storefronts do just as welll? It doesn't seem to cause any problems in Europe.
The Healthy Haven (at Bruce and Victoria) looks like it's building a patio. If only they had a better location....

Unfortunately the Kitchener City Hall Patio is now closed.
but... I've heard it might return as a bookable space!!! It would be amazing to do a little Jazz night up there.![]()
The re-done part of king st looks great with all the patios popping up. Lots of tables and umbrellas, very inviting, and people are definitely using them.

Awesome!! I assume they're taking advantage of the grant program, excited to see the finished project!
Awesome. I went there a few weeks ago...phenominal ice cream.
The store seems a little confused as to what it wants to be though. They sell ice cream and chocolates, then on another table they have what look to be cell phone face plates, they have some other odds and ends on the shelves against the wall, then they have another sign advertising music or karaoke nights or something.

Wow. Never been downtown to try O Brian's... Typically when I think of Patio's, I venture to opposite ends of the city.. The moose with their new, yet seemingly smaller patio, and the opposite side up in Waterloo Uptown... The Huether and McMullan's!
May have to give O Brian's a shot! Nice posting!
Speaking of patios and Bobby OBriens, their patio was PACKED tonight!

Wow, that red is bold. Looking forward to seeing the finished project though. Glad they seem to be sandblasting the brick to clean it up too!
Bobby O'Brien's patio was packed last night during Cruising on King.

That's great that it was so packed. I think a lot of it has to do with so few other options for a) patios b) drinks. I would imagine Crabby Joe's patio was packed as well, the bar/restaurant was probably busy too. Maybe the Museum Cafe's patio, if open. Other than that, what else is there. We need more options downtown! Even once the Firkin pub opens, and McCabes, there needs to be more!
Judging by the photos, the Kitchener patio crowd is not lacking for places to ingest beer, or fried foods for that matter! God, we are all getting too hefty (and believe me, it is a subject I am expert on!).
