  1. Hey Foodies,
I was doing some canvassing work in Laurelwood this afternoon and I stopped in at Bogda Restaurant. It's a tiny restaurant with minimal decor and a menu consisting of about 8 items (4 of which were sushi). I ordered item #1--Stir Fried Udon Noodles with Napa Cabbage Beef, and a Hot Chilli Oil Sauce. This was the best tasting Chinese food I have tried in Waterloo--or pretty much anywhere else. I don't want to give too much away, but the Udon is actually hand made! Where else can you get the authenticity of hand-rolled Udon for under 10$??

I give the restaurant two thumbs up.

    Regards,
    Peter

Bogda Restaurant is, as far as I know, the only restaurant in the area serving Uyghur cuisine (from northwestern China). It's closer to the cuisines of central Asian countries than to those of eastern China, and features lamb, pilaf, hand-pulled noodles, and a unique spice mix. The noodles can also be very, very long.

    It is definitely worth going.

I think this kind of place would do much better downtown, as it's more of a whole city destination than a neighbourhood one.
