The loss of this location for smart development is a damn shame. With all the development on Ezra and Marshall, this would be a good location for anything but single use rental.

Will this be the 15th crane of the year?

They must be renting these cranes from all over.
K-W has never had so many cranes and Toronto is probably at a peak right now too.

    Here's some better renderings:

This looks really cool. Kudos for going with something other than a non-descript building.

Looks good! The buildings are starting to get better in terms of design, but as others have mentioned though, the biggest issue is lack of commercial. And maybe even more so that they're designed only for students.

Has a similar look to 322 King North.

That glass facing sells it. Great stuff.
  20. I suppose I am in the minority here but I don't see the allure here. This is just another boring box with tiny windows. The only difference is a glass wall running down the east side of the building. From most angles it won't even be seen, what will be seen is another student monstrosity polluting our core. Call me when these builders are willing to really shake things up.

True, but that is already better than the previous n-1 buildings which didn't even have that.

It is unlikely we'll get there in one step. City council would be too shocked by it and would just not allow it. The 42, the Red and this building are first steps towards a more architecturally daring city.

I dont even blame the developers. They're maximizing their profit. The blame needs to go squarely on the City of Waterloo and their planning department.
