Does anyone know whats going to happen to the area of land on Hespler road between Dunbar rd. and Can-Amera pkwy? Most ofl the businesses on that stretch have been closed down and most of the buildings have been torn away.
There are no plans to my knowledge. I think a lot of it has to do with the decline in sales for those particular companies. Chrysler and GM haven't been doing too well as you can imagine. Those dealerships just happen to all be located next to each other.Originally Posted by cambridge-city-boy
I know...it looks really bad. And there's a lot of industrial buildings up for lease too, all around the city. I hope this goes away along with the recession, but we'll see. Cambridge needs to move beyond its old (blue-collar) economic model, that's for sure.
Is that the south east corner that you're talking about?
There was a model for the lot proposed by the School of Architecture students (I think) but nothing official.
I wouldn't stop with Dunbar to Can-Amera though. I would have Cambridge Centre build parking structures behind The Bay and Zellers, have the laneway in front of the mall made a proper street (maybe adjust Collier-MacMillan to make it all one road), and have everything between Bishop and Dunbar excavated and rezoned for reuse. Imagine the possibilities with a strip of land that size.
We should add Waterloo North Hydro's new administrative office on Country Squire Road to the map.
Sorry everyone for the lack of updates, using a very old computer these days.
-added the "centre for corporate excellence"

-Refelections of Laurelwood a condo project in the Laurel Creek area of waterloo

Would anyone like to see an icon added for completed projects? How about an icon for cancelled projects? This would serve as a way for us to see how Waterloo Region has grown since Wonderful Waterloo began.
Also I am not sure in the google maps area how to add more into the map description so I can add to the map legend, if anyone knows I would greatly appreciate your help.
I think that unless there is a way of selectively hiding them, it would add a lot of clutter and confusion to an already full map. Some sights may even have several tags if different proposals have been approved, then cancelled, and then another approved on the same site.Originally Posted by RangersFan

That's actually a good idea, especially for completed projects!Originally Posted by RangersFan
Hello Everyone,
I would like to do a map clean up to designate which projects we can mark off as complete, input is appreciated.
For starters:
The Bauer Lofts - Are these complete?
188 King st and lodge (student complex near Wilfred Laurier) - Looks complete
311 to 321 Lester st. student complex
The first 12 storey student apartment built on Lester
UW Engineering V
All are completeOriginally Posted by RangersFan
A couple more to add:
- Courtland & Block Line Commercial Plaza (Proposed)
- Laurel Springs Redevelopment (U/C)
I'd also say the renovations and expansion of Conestoga Mall is complete.
there is no proposed project at courtland and block line. there is a piece of land for sale there

True, but whoever currently owns the land paid for someone to design a detailed concept and rendering for a potential development on the property, so I still think we should say there is at least something proposed for the site. What it ends up being is unclear.Originally Posted by benjaminbach
Added the proposed Mixed use plaza at Northfield and Bridge st, Waterloo.
I don't know if this should go up on the map or not, but Bluevale Collegiate Institute is currently getting major renovations done to it.
