Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know about love.MADE - it's a place where we hope arts, crafts and creativity will happen. My wife and I are starting a business and would eventually like to open a place where handmade goods are sold, workshops are held, groups can meet and coffee is sipped.

We both have day jobs right now, so we're starting small and hoping we can grow. For the time being we're planning a couple of knitting workshops and a screenprinting workshop. You can already sign up for our first beginner knitting workshop - the Tuesday Night Knitting Club!

We're also having a launch party next Saturday afternoon at Maxwell's Music House from 1-4 p.m. You can drop in and meet our knitters, make buttons, get a portrait drawn, or just have a drink and some snacks. There's a facebook event with all the information here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=194282297261077

Thanks! Hope to see you sometime!

    Hi again everyone,

Starting Saturday May 28 and running for three Saturday afternoons in a row we will be holding a sock knitting workshop for ambitious beginners or people with some knitting experience. See below for details. To register click here.

    Description
For the beginning Sock Fanatic or long-time top-down knitter looking for a new direction!

This workshop will discuss, demonstrate and practice the key elements of knitting a sock from the toes to the cuff. The participant can choose to work on a miniature and/or full-size sock, based on preference and amount of time s/he wishes to invest outside of class.

No specific pattern is required; handouts on all the key instructions will be included. Participants are encouraged to bring a pattern if they have one they would like to try. Example patterns, books, and resources will be discussed and available to review. We will also discuss gauge, qualities that make good "sock" yarn, and different needle preferences.

The workshop fee does not include materials.
    Experience Level
Minimal knitting experience. You need know nothing of knitting socks, but this will be much easier if you know how to knit, purl and create increases (kf&b) and decreases (k2tog, ssk).
    Materials List
Required: Approx. 30 g. of practice yarn, DK or Worsted weight but the yarn diameter is not strict. Double-pointed (4 or 5) or circular needles (1 or 2) of a comfortable size for the practice yarn.

Optional: 100 g. of sock yarn. Double-pointed (4 or 5) or circular needles (1 or 2), 2.0 to 2.5 mm (usual sizes to suit sock yarn). A pattern if you have one you want to try.
