None of the names really jump out at me. Trio reminds me too much of TriOS College. I'd have to say that Ion is probably my favourite.

I actually prefer the grey over the red. But still.. lipstick on a pig.
It looks like they are also replacing the balcony railings with tinted glass. I noticed the property owners did this on an...

What was Lucky's Wings & Things is now Ceasaria Grill & Bar.
According to the website it will be opened on December 17th and will be "KWs hottest new Grill & Bar".

The way I see it is we've had 3 pubs pop up within two blocks of the future HUB over the past couple of years: McCabes, Firkin and Honest Lawyer. From my experiences, all these pubs generally offer...

I was able to snap a pic today when I was out.

I would like to see this happen. As someone who lives in the Kaufman lofts, I was really hoping for more retail at the Tannery. Although, since its google, I won't complain that much.

Looks like I wasn't the only one out recently snapping pics. (Taken with iPhone 5)

Completely agree. This project is awesome.

It's definitely a good location for a Cinema with the mall, LRT/Bus terminal and residential areas close by. It's also close to highway.. But is there really a need for another one of these in KW...

Does anyone know what they are planning for the exterior of these buildings? Currently, one side is painted brown half-way up and it's been that way for a while. Will they paint the whole thing...
-
I really don't see the big concern about this site. Yes it has been known for some shady activity. But there are a lot of pluses: beautiful re-landscaped park, iron horse trail, close to future...

Noooo. Not Ish + Chips!! I was so excited when these guys finally reopened after moving from the University location (where it was MacDonnell Village). This is just terrible.
-
The new Matter of Taste is really nice. It's a lot brighter than before and I really like the exposed brick.
-
I've been waiting for someone to snatch this up for a while. Happy to hear that it's Momentum and can't wait for more details.

My co-worker who lives in that neighbourhood heard that it is going to be a tattoo parlour... A marginal improvement over what was there before?
-
Just want to put in a good word for The Lancaster Smokehouse. Went there last night with a friend, and I gotta say it certainly exceeded my expectations.
As you might know, they haven't done...

The rendering looks great. But given the building's surroundings, its going to look a wee bit out of place. It would be nice to see similar redevelopment happen to the adjacent buildings as well.

Facebook and Google in downtown Kitchener? I must be dreaming. Has anyone else heard about this from any other sources? I googled it but came up with nothing...

A sign was recently put up on the site:

Yeah they repainted the facade as well (bridgeport and caroline facing). I think it looks a lot better. Was never a fan of the purple.
-
Yes, as a matter of fact it did.. way back in 2009! :RpS_cursing:

Wow... That's all I gotta say. Wow.
Edit:
Actually I have more to say. I've been a big fan of this development since the day it was announced. I want to see it succeed. But these...

Was wondering if anyone here could recommend a local web designer or web developer to do a little work for me on my company's website.
I'm particularly looking for someone well versed in CSS who...

No TV here also. I recently dropped my Rogers internet and switched to TekSavvy cable. $10 less per month for the same package, plus 300 GB cap. No complaints here (yet).

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the article.
Although, regarding the line:
Did council really surprise? C'mon. Didn't we all know deep down inside that the votes would swing that way?...
-
Thanks for sharing. I'm always excited to see how this project is progressing.

EDIT: Sorry. I now realize that the thread title is Gyms in Waterloo. You can ignore my post :)
I've been going to LA Fitness on Victoria for the past 2.5 years. I don't really have any...

I can't see how anyone could complain about this. This is awesome news and great for downtown. It keeps on getting better.
Can't wait for the shovels to be in the ground.

Skip light rail referendum and just build it, says transit guru

Amen.

I pass this building every day on my way to work. I used to slow down to take a quick glance at the construction site looking for signs of progress, but now I usually maintain speed and look the...

Cool! I'll probably swing by this weekend. Did you try the the coffee? And if so, how does it rank in the hierarchy of downtown coffees?
-
Yeah, they recently removed a whole bunch of those "chimney" things that jutted out from the roof... (sorry I have no idea what they're called). You can see them in this older picture..

I went last Friday around 6pm and it was packed. People were waiting to be seated. I really liked the space overall especially the bar area and booth sections - for the reasons you mentioned. The...

I've been waiting for this day . Wish I could've operated the back hoe myself :RpS_biggrin:

Whenever I go, it's fairly packed. I usually need to push people out of the way to get to the apple fritters :RpS_drool:

I emailed Mayor Halloran last week re: her stance on rapid transit. She never wrote me back. I didn't even get a generic response.
-
Those renderings do look very nice. And the people too! Very attractive and successful looking. I guess I'll have to attend the preview opening to see how they compare to the Kaufmans.
-
I can understand his frustration, but I'm not sure if this was the best thing to do...
-
I actually recently cancelled my Rogers cable service as many television networks now offer high quality streaming of full episodes online, usually a day after it's aired on TV. With my PC connected...

I am always amazed when I see new photos of this project. Just amazed.

Hey guys. Looks like the Firkin at the Tannery is coming along. They have some signage up. I also peeked in the windows, and it looks like they have booths, bar and flat screens up. Shouldn't be...

Marijuana in moderation will not hurt anyone. I'm a living example. I've also seen it with my own eyes.
Like UrbanWaterloo said above, it's no longer a fringe drug. I have many successful...

Oh wow that pretty much seals the deal for me. Thanks.

In my opinion, the atmosphere is really the only thing Symposium has going for it. Every time I've gone there, I've left feeling ripped off.
-
Oh c'mon. Most people like to sit out on their balconies, have a drink, a conversation, read the paper, surf the net on the lap top, ipad etc... So what if people from the road can see you doing...

^^ Is this the old derelict asian grocery store? If so, I cannot wait!
-
Has there ever been a mention of a possible phase II?
Also, any word on when the Firkin will be open?
-
Agreed. :RpS_biggrin:
Looking forward to the media coverage.
