Great picture update. I'm really liking the rounded brownstone shape so far.
-
This looks like a heck of a project. Momentum is doing wonders for this great city.
-
Thanks for the clarification BuildingScout. I was unable to read the article in its entirety so I appreciate your take on the matter as well.
-
I'm sure there are quite a few speculators. K-W's Record just published an article outlining solid growth in housing prices in Waterloo.
-
My mistake! I may have to check it out.
-
Honey Bake Shop recently opened its doors. It resides in the King St. building with Starbucks, American Apparel, and Iris.
-
Unfortunately, to me, this resembles quite a few areas of Toronto and the GTA that have become awful over the years.
-
I couldn't agree more. Wow!
-
Estimated completion time: Before Domain Hotel :RpS_tongue:
-
For those of you who are unaware, Waterloo's Dave Chilton will be the new Dragon this season while usurping Robert Herjavec.
The new season will likely air at the end of Summer or at the beginning...
-
It's getting increasingly more difficult to defend them these days. I really hope the BB10 devices can change things as they just started production on them recently.
-
I love the Flat Iron building you posted Markster. Brad Lamb has really done some excellent work on the building posted above and it looks amazing thus far. Something like that would be amazing for...
-
Having just left Vincenzos not too long ago, I have to agree that this area will be (and is) a complete mess.
-
This thing is very imposing in terms of height and general size. Wow!
-
Well said. I really like the42 despite originally being somewhat perplexed by the chosen colour of spandrels.
-
Why is that? Is it the spandrels?
-
This immediately reminded me of Ikea's small space layouts versus new condo developments in downtown Toronto.
Ikea has units around 600 square feet that feel like 300 square feet due to...
-
I completely forgot about that. My friend has been raving about their burgers for years since he has moved to Ottawa.
-
Actually, I really enjoy Hero Burger. They offer a wide variety of toppings and are still growing expansively in the Toronto region.

I'm such a dunce. I misread your first post in a way that I thought Gaukel was the name of a furniture store. :RpS_mellow:
I know exactly where Schreiters is, I just didn't know Gaukel was the...
-
I don't venture downtown too often, admittedly.
-
This was my initial thought as well.
-
Yeah, I love Schreiter's loft stuff. Where is Gaukel located though? I've never heard of it.
-
Is the McDonald's no longer in the Benton/King building?
Also,
1) Grocery store, preferably something like the Sobeys Urban Fresh stores or the Freshco in Regent Park in Toronto
- I know...
-
I've heard that Target rarely has full-time employees and they even recently reduced 8,000 full-time staff members to part time staffing positions . Given the option of Wal-Mart or Target, in terms...
-
I can't say I'm really upset with Wal-Mart moving into that spot. Wal-Mart is far superior to Zellers and that whole plaza could see traffic increases as a result of the change.
-
I know. There are a lot of things that go along into a transaction which include taxation, multiple purchases, and payment type that could deter such manipulation from occurring. However, I am just...
-
That is a valid point for most institutions.
What about places like coffee shops where single purchases are more likely?
I'm not so worried about its implications so much as I am intrigued to...
-
I wonder if this will influence marketing tactics. They say odd pricing (ending in 7 or 9 more specifically) often creates the perception of a deal. How many companies in Canada will now adopt the...
-
As a Leaf fan, I would enjoy this as it would allow me to watch a team that could likely win a game.
However, Balsillie has taken a major nosedive in terms of net worth. I don't know how viable...
-
Jim Balsillie, David Yach (CTO), and the COO, Jim Rowan, all stepped down from the board today. Yikes.
Mr. Yach is apparently retiring and Mr. Rowan is apparently pursuing other interests.
-
:RpS_lol: The bank may not like that after they took out a near $60 Million loan to purchase surrounding residential units.
But, in all honesty, there have been rumblings on campus and I've yet...
-
I've recently heard rumblings that Titanium Nightclub has been purchased by WLU. Anyone have confirmation of this?
-
As sad as it is, the only positive for this building is the incorporation of balconies. Far too many buildings in this area don't have balconies or they have those horrible Juliet balconies.
-
:RpS_lol: Always a classic look.
-
I have to agree with SP!RE on this one. I love the large windows in the newly proposed development but I have no idea what they were thinking on the ground level.
-
That's weird. I've heard stories that current tenants are paying around $550 per month which is south of what they were originally slated to be. My mistake.
-
Do you know if it will be a Supercenter? I can't imagine the Sobeys next door would be too pleased if it were to become a Supercenter.
-
Is it sad that I was waiting for the redesign render to decide whether or not to get my MBA here? :RpS_tongue:
I love the new design, it will do wonders for that side of University.
-
$700 per room in a 5 bedroom unit is only for the first year though. That could just be a feature, like free upgrades in a new condo, to enhance selling. I can pretty well guarantee that those prices...
-
Thanks for the clarification, it's much appreciated.
Also, does that mean a calendar year or a school year? I know a lot of places have trouble filling space during the summer term months.
-
$700 per month lease rate for each student. Yikes!
Is that only for the first year where the 100% lease is guaranteed on Sage's behalf?
-
This could make an excellent development opportunity for WLU. They currently rent or own the building beside it and consolidating the two small parcels or land could give them ample room for a nice...
-
I thought the patio/garden area would have been done for Phase 1 but that makes sense since the added construction will likely hamper anyone's ability to utilize it.
-
Thanks for the update UrbanWaterloo. It's pretty cool that they have a technique that will allow them to develop two different phases onto the same podium. Would that not be a hassle to the outdoor...
-
Looking at the newly proposed building, the phrase "stark contrast" comes to mind.
-
I definitely get where you are coming from and I am starting to see where benefits could be had on behalf of SunLife. I know their employee parking list is quite long and if they could add more...
-
I wasn't talking about potential redevelopments/improvements, I was talking about its current state. Most of the retail spots in that area aren't open beyond 10pm anyways and I can't imagine demand...
-
I think SunLife sharing their parking would pose so many problems though. As it stands, people who even have gym memberships in their facility can't even park there due to the massive waiting list...
-
Of course, I updated mine the other day and love it. It's just sad that the 'good software' came long after device launch rather than with it. I think they got too comfortable with OTA (over-the-air)...
