Historic BMO Grand Re-Opening

The community is invited to celebrate the grand re-opening of BMO's newly renovated branch in Waterloo on Thursday, February 2nd. Complimentary refreshments will be served and an official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 4:30 PM. The Mayor and Regional Chair are both expected to attend.

New CEO at Research In Motion

The Board of Directors of RIM today (January 22nd) announced that it has unanimously named Thorsten Heins as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Heins was also appointed to RIM’s Board. The Board acted after conducting its own due diligence. Both appointments are effective immediately.

The Great Places in Canada

Kitchener's Victoria Park Neighbourhood & the West Montrose Covered Bridge have been nominated in the annual contest run by the Canadian Institute of Planners. More nominations can be made until January 31st, and voting takes place until February 29th. Winners will be announced at the end of April. Mayor Carl Zehr says, "Having Victoria Park - the jewel of our city - nestled in its midst has made this near 200-year-old neighbourhood a cultural and recreational destination for residents and visitors..."
