Tired with LRT coverage by the traditional media? I've been and so have other members I've talked to. I used to read the local papers all the time growing up as a kid. Now I can't be bothered since they're not using their resources to fully educate the public on this critical issue. I don't want to see this turn into my generation's version of the destruction of the former Kitchener City Hall.
Local media outlets should be doing interesting feature segments on global rail systems. If I was the publisher of a local newspaper I'd be sending a reporter over to Europe with their assignment being to file a daily report on a different train system. Start interviewing their citizens, business leaders & politicians on why LRT works so well for them. Provide high quality photographs showing how cities look around each station.
Well that's not the position I'm in, so the best alternative option I have is to make sure everyone's voice is heard. When sending in letters to the editor, you can now cc
letters@wonderfulwaterloo.com. We'll make sure they get posted to a dedicated page on this website.
Credit goes to
ViewFromThe42 for coming up with the idea. His tagline really says it all: "Eventually, you can't go on not caring. You realize you have a voice.".
Please spread the word to family, friends, colleagues, etc..
