    Fifteen and nineteen story buildings on a podium with ground floor retail and offices on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Sales are expected to begin this spring on the landmark downtown Kitchener project located at 100 Victoria Street South.

    The amended proposal includes the development of a 20 storey mixed use building, with commercial uses at grade and 110 residential units above. It would have 80 parking spots. The Formal Public Meeting is Monday January 13th.

    Located at the corner of King & James, k2 is a mixed use development, with a 2-storey podium containing ground-floor retail and common amenity space. Above this podium will be 2 towers, one 11 stories, and one 21 stories. An informal public meeting was held November 4th and the Waterloo Sales event was November 21st from 1-5pm.

    BlackBerry Enters into Letter of Intent with Consortium led by Fairfax Financial

    • BlackBerry shareholders would receive U.S. $9 per share in cash
    • Transaction valued at approximately U.S. $4.7 billion
    • Consortium permitted 6 weeks to conduct due diligence
    • BlackBerry entitled to go-shop during due diligence period, subject to payment of a termination fee in the event alternative offer accepted

    The consortium would acquire for cash all of the outstanding shares of BlackBerry not held by Fairfax. Fairfax, which owns approximately 10 percent of BlackBerry’s common shares, intends to contribute the shares of BlackBerry it currently holds into the transaction. Diligence is expected to be complete by November 4, 2013.

    Doors Open Waterloo Region

    A free heritage and architecture open house event that took place Saturday September 21st. Most of the sites were open from 10-5.

    Farmers' Market Fire

    40 firefighters from four Woolwich Fire Department stations responded to a fire at the main market building at the St. Jacobs Farmers Market this week. The 24,000 square foot wood construction building, which houses around 60 market vendors, has been deemed a total loss by Fire Department official.


    This year Kidspark turns 25, and celebrates with a bang on Sunday, Aug. 18 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Victoria Park. Admission is free. Not only will favourite children’s entertainer Erick Traplin host the big event, there will be plenty of face painting, arts and crafts, activities and fun for all ages!

    The Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF) is currently developing a 20 year Master Plan, and will address questions like: What should we be? What should we build? What business opportunities exist? Where do we want to be in 5, 10 or 20 years from now? What makes sense?

    Three sessions are scheduled as follows:
