Now I only go on Fridays (not into the goth scene), but they can be fun with the retro music.

Personally, I absolutely love the music choice that they play on Saturday nights. I always felt that alternative music never got much attention in this region, but that was before I attended a Saturday night at Abstract. I would go more often if I could convince more people to come with me. I find that many of my current group of friends are big fans of top 40 music and find alternative music an acquired taste. I don't mind top40 music myself but its kinda sad that people have resigned themselves to enjoy top40-style music at clubs. Any other kind of sound is seen as inappropriate and that really upsets me.

I've had some amazing times at Abstract on Saturday nights and I wonder if all fans of alternative music in the region are actually aware that this event happens every weekend. There are many people out there who detest going to all clubs just because all the clubs around them play top40 music. If they were made aware of Abstract's choice of music on Saturdays, then they'd probably get inspired to not stay at home on saturday nights listening to alternative music with friends when they can get to Abstract and enjoy themselves. I was very happy that they take requests too. One night, I requested "Guerilla Radio" by Rage Against The Machine, and subsequently went crazy on the dance floor right after. It totally made my night (and the night of some of the people I was there with).

Maybe Abstract needs to do some interesting advertising activities directed at the universities. The whole AbstractSaturdayEqualsGoth idea needs to be expanded upon. Goth is beautiful but the music is good enough that non-Goth people can have a good time too, mingling with their Goth counterparts. Maybe a poster campaign near the campuses that mention the alternative music inclinations of Abstract would be a good place to start. Inviting local alternative bands to play shows would be another good idea.
