Well, I'm off to London, ON. Having spent much time there as an undergrad and more recently visiting my wife, I know it's a pretty good city. Alas, it is no Waterloo. I will certainly miss the spirit and momentum of my hometown.

As some of you may have figured out, I live in the Uptown and served on the Uptown Vision Committee. I hope that a few of you applied to be a member of the UVC during the recent call for new members. The people on W2 are passionate and knowledgeable (even though I didn't always agree with individual or majority opinions around here!), and the type of folks who need to be involved with this committee. If you did apply and have any questions, let me know.

I believe there is no better place to live in the entire Region of Waterloo than the Uptown. I grew up here and moved back here just as things got exciting in the early 00s. If I am fortunate enough to come back to Waterloo, I will try to find a place in the ol' hood...which is not very easy these days!

On that note, anyone interested in living Uptown can check out my humble abode. MLS®: 1137826

I know I haven't posted much on W2, but I've really enjoyed being a part of this forum. Of course, I will still be keeping an eye on things from down the road...

Thanks, RF.

I just discovered London's new vision for their downtown - http://www.lfpress.com/news/london/2011/09/28/18751471.html

Hopefully they find as much success as Uptown has...although, some of the concepts are pretty ambitious. Whenever I see a public outdoor rink in artist renderings I think of the private sector efforts it took to make Waterloo's happen.
