WW had a record number of visitors (183) on Tuesday January 19, 2010 (last full day available). Now some of that might be double counted (ie. I'm counted twice when I'm on at home and then go on my phone later), but still some good growth. I think what really caused the latest upswing on Tuesday was the new facebook group: I want a Wonderful Waterloo Region (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=285559282353&ref=ts)

Yeah that's pretty cool, especially when you consider that stat is in 'real-time', ie. not how some sites use 'online in the last hour'. To be honest I didn't think it would break so quickly, I thought we'd have to wait for a grand opening at a condo development (people coming online to check the price list) or a big local festival (like Jazz, Blues or Oktoberfest).
There were another 193 visitors yesterday too.

There was a temporary spike around February 14th when we were added to the BerryBlab Network. WW continues to attract more visitors, which for myself means we inch closer to a personal goal of starting-up a broad-based (100 member) urban economic development fund for the region. Although since not everyone will participate (maybe only 10% initially), we'll need to grow further still - though perhaps by next year it will be possible. :)

2nd busiest day yesterday: great to see more people are getting interested in Waterloo Region's urban issues. Fingers crossed this turns into more pedestrian traffic in our core areas (people wanting to check out a new development themselves), an increase in people wanting to live there and in shops/services provided. Hopefully we'll get another pop in April or May by helping to host an Urban Unconference.

Hey WW,
This is my first post and I would like to use it to congratulate you on this site. I used to check Skyscraper Forum once in a while, but this absolutely blows that out of the water. I look forward to reading about urban issues in the Region as well as seeing WW grow in the coming months (and years). If I could recommend anything, I would say that you should post links on Skyscraper Forum to drag any last people from there over to this site. Other than that, amazing job!

It's a bot that scans the website for search terms. The more search terms it finds, the more results WW gets in a Google search on that specific term. They usually show up in the section that lists which users are online.

I wouldn't get too excited about seeing spiders. Any new website will be crawled within 1-2 weeks. The visits we're seeing now are just re-crawls. Google's spider will crawl a few times and based on how much has changed between crawls will set a crawl frequency. A forum like this will probably be crawled multiple times a week by Google.

Wow. We're now regularly topping 1000 users per day. I wish the stock market was growing as fast and as steadily as Wonderful Waterloo! :)

I now see the AskJeeves Spider crawling around the Who's Online page, with it's 2 buddies... Google Spider and Yahoo! Slurp Spider. This is the first time I've seen the AskJeeves Spider. I wonder if there's a Bing or a Live Search spider?
