I wanted to post a picture to Wonderful Waterloo from my phone but I was overwhelmed by an ad that took up nearly the whole screen, and it appear on each page I viewed. You could close it but it would just pop up again on the next page.
I would guess you do not get a lot of mobile traffic so I would suggest turning off those ads.

My concern isn't the ads, it's the fact that the layout of the page forces the column width to be a ridiculous 1000px wide.

Sure, my desktop can handle this, (though, I generally prefer to keep browsing windows smaller) but my TV sure can't, and it's a miracle I'm able to read the site on my Blackberry at all. There is a lot of horizontal scrolling.

Ads I can live with, but a page wider than many of my screens can handle, I can't.

Also some of the photos posted are huge. Recently there was a 2MB photo, rendered at thumbnail size, on the home page that got reloaded every time I refreshed that page to see new forum posts. I'm using a broadband connection at home and found that annoying at best. I can't imagine what it would be like on a slower cellphone data connection.
