Membership on the site has been growing steadily so I thought it would be a good idea to invite everyone together so they can meet one and other.

The plan is to meet at the Bauer Kitchen @ 3:30pm, have a drink or two (or a bit of food if you don't drink), then assuming everyone's cool take you on a tour of the Bauer Building and show you a pretty amazing view of Uptown Waterloo. The last point being the reason for starting early so we could still catch a bit of sunlight (and then the darkness/city lights) for the view. Make sure to bring your camera!

So who's planning to show up? Or is there a better date to propose (ie. does February work better?)

Note: Could be postponed due to inclement weather, but we'll keep an eye on this the week of.

Understandable, though it would be nice to get a lot of us out as a kind of kick-off to this collaberative site we're working on.

Ya, we'll reschedule this sometime in February then.

One of the purposes of this site is to bring together people with cool views & spaces/condos in the city. Hopefully this will get things started by inviting people to Bauer to see an awesome view of Uptown Waterloo.

Resurrecting this thread. I've added a poll option at the top, so simply vote for the days you're available. In a few days I'll see which date is the most popular and that will be the meet. I'm thinking a Saturday would work best for all, if people have other suggestion feel free to share. Also it would be nice to have something in early February. Given that sunset is around 5:30pm, here's my proposed schedule:

3:30-4pm : Moderation Team Meeting Upstairs @ Bauer Lofts
4:00-5pm: Group Drink @ The Bauer Kitchen
5:00-6:30pm: Group Drink Upstairs - Day & Night View of Uptown

This will be a bit different than the other urban meetings as it will be done casually & with alcohol. :cool:

Choose 'other' if none of the days work for you. Suggestions?

Well I guess the tie-breaker is a pvt-msg I received stating another possible attendee this Saturday. As such, I'll make the first WW Meet: Saturday February 6, 2010.

Also since I've met everyone who's attending, we'll just meet upstairs instead (no more restaurant); well down in the lobby @ 3:30pm if you're a mod; 4pm otherwise. I've been told the Duke travels with 5 armed guards, and will have a CF-18 patrolling the skies incase there are any security concerns. ;) I'll PM my cell to those who signed up incase they're running late.

Note: If you're one who enjoys views make sure to bring your winter jacket/gloves to look out on the balcony for a period of time. Camera too.

I'll pick up a case of beer from a local brewery, and some local appetizers; feel free to bring something (local, local, local) if you'd like as well. Also, this is more of an urban party rather than a strategy session. Though there will be no repeat of my aunt's Woolwich Party of the 20th Century where beer bottle caps were still being picked out of the flower bed a year afterwards. :eek:

Don't worry Oliver, I think Urban rented one of those new x-ray machines from Pearson that does the virtual strip search. It's non-invasive and not connected to the internet so our photos will not appear on WW. However everyone should be prepared to remove their shoes to be inspected by bomb sniffing dogs.

If you have cool stuff from the region: old price lists from the Seagram Lofts, old maps, etc.. bring them out!

Seems as though members were interested in a quarterly event; which would put the next one sometime during May. If it's at the same location, the warmer weather should make using the patio much more enjoyable. Perhaps we'll do a Power Point next time as well. Task: if there's a cool urban video (around 30min-1hr: maybe a tv special) you see during the next 3 months, pass it along and we'll play it at the next social.
