Website (http://www.regionofwaterloo.ca/en/discoveringtheregion/josephschneiderhaus.asp)
<div style="width:650px; text-align:center; margin: 0px auto;">It was originally a house built circa 1816 by Joseph Schneider, who was among a large group of Pennsylvania Dutch immigrants that settled in Waterloo County in the early 19th century. The house is the oldest extant dwelling in Kitchener. The Schneider Haus museum is a living recreation of life in Ontario in the 1860s, and has been restored to that period. The site includes several out-buildings that recreate life of the time.
The house was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1999.</div>

Excuse my ignorance but what is a "Wash Haus"? It sounds like a circa 1850's Waterloo Region / Berlin laundromat or something.

Joseph Schneider Haus gets new building as historic wash house is re-created
March 4, 2011 | Johanna Weidner | The Record | LINK (http://www.therecord.com/news/local/article/495953--joseph-schneider-haus-gets-new-building-as-historic-wash-house-is-re-created)
KITCHENER — Outside Joseph Schneider Haus, a crane lowered huge logs into place in the construction of a wash house on the historic Kitchener property.
The wash house once served as a summer kitchen for the Schneider family, where cooking, pickling and preserving, soap and candle making, butchering and other essential chores were done away from the farmhouse in the hottest months.
“All the activities moved out there in the summertime,” said museum curator Susan Burke.
The original wash house was discovered during an archeological dig on the property in 1984 while reconstructing the Schneider Creek culvert, unearthing the foundation, corner brick hearth and floor boards.
