I wanted to start a thread for this little gem in Belmont Village because I had one of the best meals of life at the Village Creperie last Saturday. The owners, Jean and Bob, recently returned from Tuscany where they learned from the locals how to cook a full meal, which ended up becoming the Valentine's Menu (http://villagecreperie.ca/ValentinesDinner.pdf).

As soon as we arrived, Bob came out and introduced the menu which was a great start to the night as its not often you get to meet the chef whose preparing your meal. This just shows that he really cares about what he serves and hopes his guests enjoy it, which always makes for a great meal.

The first course was tomato and garlic bruschetta with Valsecco, and boy did it go down quick. The tanginess of the tomatoes and garlic along with a perfect amount of fresh parsley made this a fantastic opener to the dinner. But we were just getting started...

The next course, spinach ravioli with sage butter, could not have been cooked more perfectly. The braised pork loin with cream sauce was incredible and made the entire meal over the top excellent. The final course, dessert, was a tiramisu, and a delicious ending to a great meal. This thing tasted like it was handed down by angels - Italian angels - themselves.

We also had a couple glasses of San Valentin (how fitting) (a garnacha) with dinner, and it was a great pairing to the meal and an excellent wine.

A four-course Italian dinner from this little French restaurant in Belmont Village - amazing.

Side note - we have been here several times for regular dinners, crepes et al, and love it. Great wine selection too. If its not too late for new year's resolutions, I have a new one to add to the list - visit Village Creperie more often in 2011!

Sounds like a great spot, thanks for the review!

I personally love restaurants where the owners come out and get to know the patrons. My wife and I will definitely have to check this place out as it's not too far away.

I love the Village Creperie. Their one dessert crepe with peanut butter, chocolate, bananas and honey is amazing. Sometimes our family goes there just for dessert!

This is a great place to eat. Casa Rugatino, also within that strip, is great too.

As a side note, it is probably a tribute to the design of the street and the walkability of the neighbourhood (including several pedestrian connections to the streets nearby) that none of the businesses along this stretch suffered much from the recent interminable roadwork (compare that to the other plazas with little friendly pedestrian access beyond the street front).

Yes, totally agree. The lane running parallel to the Iron Horse didn't hurt either as cars could also use that for getting around some of the roadwork.
